Custodian/Maintenance Technician, Maintenance
The Nevins Library located in Methuen, MA is seeking to fill 2 Part-time Custodian/Maintenance Technician positions to help maintain a neat, inviting public space in our historical Library building and grounds. The Library serves a diverse population of approximately, 50,000 in a NH border community. The 3 story building is 40,000 square feet and sits on 8 acres of well-kept grounds. These positions will report to the Facilities Manager and will work both inside and outside the building in all weather conditions.
Summary of duties include, but are not limited to: cleaning all areas, replenishing supplies, vacuuming, dusting, washing floors and carpets, emptying trash and recycling barrels, seasonal lawn care and leaf removal, snow and ice clearing by shoveling or snow blowing. Additionally, these positions will set up rooms and outdoor spaces for library programs and meetings. The Custodian/Maintenance Technician may also be asked to help paint, perform light carpentry and plumbing, change light bulbs, etc. as well as help library patrons and staff with carrying books, boxes, etc.
Qualifications
• At least 3-5 years’ experience working in a cleaning and maintenance environment.
• Understands and respects people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently to prioritize and complete tasks as directed.
• Familiar with the safe use of lawn mowers, snow blowers, leaf blowers, vacuum cleaners and other light equipment is preferred.
• Able to lift and push heavy objects and equipment.
• Valid Driver’s License
Hours: Position 1) 20 hours per week: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 10:00 am with a Saturday rotation
Position 2) 12-16 hours per week: Tuesday to Thursday, 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Saturday rotation.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency
Salary: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
